Have a great week!

I feel like I'm running out of time! My summer is almost halfway over, and I still have so much to do! I am planning for my 2/3 combo, taking care of organizing and cleaning at home, and getting appointments out of the way. I wish I had more to share for this week's Monday Made It!

I have been creating CC posters and decor for my classroom, so I thought I would add a little class sign freebie to TpT! It is fully editable. I used the free font KG The Last Time font one mine. I am going to have mine enlarged at Staples and place it in my classroom window. Click on the pic to download. I hope you can use it!

Have a great week!
Welcome to another week of Tips and Tools for Back to School! Even though school just ended for some of us, it's never too early for us to start thinking about next year! Especially when great freebies are involved! :)

Each week until August, The Primary Peeps will be presenting an idea and a freebie on their blogs!
If you missed last week's blog post and freebie, head on over to Leah's blog Grasty's 2nd Grade Goodies here. She had some great ideas for math implementation, as well an amazing freebie!

This week, sweet Missy from Dirt Road Teacher is blogging about a subject near and dear to my heart- classroom volunteer management. About 6 years ago, my district eliminated class size reduction the third year I taught third grade. I went from 20 students to a maximum of 32! It was that year that I realized I could not teach the way I was used to teaching. At back to school night that year, I asked for more parent volunteer help. I told the parents that I did not want one student falling through the cracks because of a financial crisis. The parents rose to the occasion, and I began having them working with students who needed extra support with fluency, comprehension, spelling, basic facts, etc. The volunteers have made all the difference in the success of my students! I am so grateful to them!

Click on Missy's blog below to check out her classroom volunteer blog post and freebie! I love the idea of having a check-off list! I have never thought of doing that- I usually rattle off to parents what I would like them to do when they arrive. I will be better  prepared next year when parents arrive to volunteer!
Thank you so much, Missy, for the wonderful ideas and freebies! I will be using them in my 2/3 combo for sure next year!
Happy Monday!
Aren't Mondays great during the summer? I love it when I forget what day it is during the summer. Isn't that carefree feeling the best!
My blogging buddies and I are teaming up to bring you a weekly back to school tip and freebie tool during the summer. I am excited to introduce my friend Leah from Grasty's 2nd Grade Goodies! She has an amazing freebie. If you teach second grade, you will want to check this out for sure!

Teaching in a Nutshell

The product I am sharing is one of my favorites-my Tall Tale Unit. I thought I had pictures of my students interacting with each other and creating their drawings during the Tall Tales Similes Tea Party, but I guess I must have deleted them when my phone was running out of storage, LOL! Check out the file here. I have included a list of my favorite tall tales and ideas for use, colored character posters and some that have less color, vocabulary words for your bulletin board, graphic organizers for tall tale reading and writing, a scrapbook to summarize each tall tale, the fun Simile Tea Party, and many other activities in this file.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
I'm so excited to be a part of this amazing Summer Blog Hop hosted by Britney from Tailor-made Teaching!
My last day of school was Friday. I was not ready for the school year to come to an end, and I am in denial that it is actually over. I had the most amazing class this year! The kind you are lucky enough to have once in a decade, so I am still a little sad the year has ended.

I am currently in the middle of disorganization and chaos, so I thought that would be the perfect theme for this Summer Blog Hop post!  I am moving to a new school around the corner from my house, and I'm switching from 3rd to a 2/3 combo! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I was blessed to have the family of one of my students and my faithful friend/volunteer help take down bulletin boards and pack up boxes. They helped me so much!

This is what it looked like yesterday when I went to finish up. Take a look and see what I mean!

Here's another view! Everything in the back cabinet/shelves is staying, but everything else is going with me! (Yikes- this is after I purged A TON!) I was (un)lucky enough to have my mom and two other colleagues retire the same year. All three were amazing teachers, and had amazing treasures I inherited about 5 years ago.
And here's my car all packed up and ready to be dropped off with the first haul. I'm curious how many trips it will take to get everything moved!
Since organizing my chaos will be at the top of my to-do list, I decided to create an editable label file for my Sterilite containers to match my classroom. I have been putting this off for a long time, so the timing for this Summer Blog Hop could not have been more perfect! I have created labels for three different sized Sterilite drawers.
Here is the smallest container, the small 3-Drawer Multi-Purpose Organizer, and the labels from my file. I plan to use this container to organize our class currency, Wise Owl Bucks. I added small pieces of tape to the top and bottom of the label and taped it inside the drawer.
Here's the next size- the medium 3-Drawer Multi-Purpose Organizer. I will use this one for my copy, grade, file, papers. This should help to organize the chaos!
Below is the last organizer. It's the medium 3-Drawer Cart with Removable Wheels. I originally planned to use this cart for file folder activities, but I might buy another one and use one to organize second grade curriculum and the other to organize third grade. That's the beauty of a customizable file- you can change your mind, retype, and print!
There are many patterns and colors to choose from in this file. You can click on the picture above to see the pack.
